Central sink Moutere's ambitions [Marlborough Express]

Biddy Kates Central and Crafar Crouch Waitohi will play off for round-one honours at Lansdowne Park this weekend after retaining their unbeaten records in the Marlborough premier club rugby competition with bonus-point victories on Saturday afternoon.
At Awarua Park in Spring Creek, competition leaders Central picked up maximum points for the fourth time in as many matches as they dispatched third-placed Moutere 38-14. The victory came on the back of a 28-0 first half when they capitalised on a strong breeze and ill-discipline from the Magpies to score four converted tries.
As expected, Waitohi proved too strong for Awatere in Picton, securing a 36-3 win. Waitohi had an 19-point advantage at the break and although the Tussock Jumpers put in a much improved all-round effort, the home team eventually secured their bonus point when loosie Vernon Fredericks dotted down twice in the final five minutes.
