E’stel Tasman Trophy

Marist won an absolute thriller of an E’stel Tasman Trophy at Trafalgar Park on Saturday. In my book the afternoon couldn’t have been any better, with 2,000 enthralled spectators and 7,000 viewing on livestreaming – with extra time and the match finishing under lights.

Semi Finals this weekend

After 11 rounds the Final Four has been decided, with Waimea Old Boys taking out the Minor Premiership and the right to play 4th placed Waitohi in a semi-final at Jubilee Park. In the other 2 v 3 semi-final, Marist will host Wanderers at Trafalgar Park. Both games kick off at 3pm.

It’s Semi-Final Time!

The E’stel Tasman Trophy final series has arrived and what a round robin we have had. At the end of Saturday we had the 8th place team only a win away from a semi-final spot. I am sure the coaches, players and supporters from Kahurangi, Nelson, East Coast and Central are all reviewing the game that was lost at the last minute or an opportunity not taken.

Volunteers essential to Club Rugby

It’s important to acknowledge the volunteers behind all our clubs and schools. Each club has a superstar or two behind the scenes, and they do a power of work to get their teams out on the field. They wear many hats and are often coaching a junior team, refereeing, managing a senior team or organising the BBQ.

With 2 regular season rounds of the E’stel Tasman Trophy remaining, the fight remains on for clubs to earn a place in the semi-finals. Marist and Waimea look assured of places.

Changes made to Age Grade Rep Rugby

Mako players will help upskill all age grade players. A decision by the Tasman Rugby Union Board and staff has been reached to replace the current age grade representative program with age grade player development sessions for all participants.
