NPD Tasman Trophy Player of the Year

The best player in this season’s NPD Tasman Trophy will now pick up the NPD Tasman Trophy Player of the Year Medallion. The Player of the Year award will be determined by a season-points system, with the Match Officials picking their players of the match awarding three points, two points and one point for the game’s top performers.

2018 Mitre 10 Cup Draw announced

The Tasman Mako have a very good draw with 2 Sunday daytime matches and 2 Friday night games, one of each in Blenheim & Nelson. The season will open with a 2017 Premiership Final re-play when we host Canterbury in Blenheim.

The first round of the NPD Tasman Trophy also incorporates matches that provide points toward The Car Company Nelson Bays and the Motorworld Marlborough Division 1 trophy competitions.

1st XV Rugby

Waimea Combined Schools had Christ’s College in their sights but couldn't hold on in a tight 10-7 home loss on Saturday. Both Marlborough Boys and Nelson College's scheduled clash in Christchurch was called off due to flooded conditions.

In Motorworld Marlborough Division 1 semi-final action, Moutere produced an irresistible second half surge to comfortably overcome Central 47-14 and book their berth in the Final decider. Renwick went toe-to-toe with Waitohi before gaining late ascendancy at Lansdowne Park to emerge 29-20 victors.

There is nothing like Final week for those teams who make it to the dance floor. This week is very special for the club, coaches and for those players lucky enough to participate in Final. I hope all teams enjoy the experience and leave nothing on the pitch. This weekend we have some intriguing battles in both the Motorworld Marlborough and The Car Company Nelson Bays competitions.

Nelson College and Waimea Combined Schools each posted a half century of points in easing to big wins in Saturday's secondary schools 1st XV rugby action. Marlborough Boys' College made their higher-placed rivals, Christ’s College, battle to the end before succumbing 21-21

Senior Competition Reviews

Nelson have finished top qualifiers after a tense 36-33 The Car Company Nelson Bays division one club rugby win over Wanderers at Brightwater on Saturday. Nelson will now host Marist in next week's semi-finals, with Wanderers at home to Waimea Old Boys after Kahurangi and Stoke.
