In a repeat of the Nelson Bays 2015 club final, Wanderers overcame a spirited Kahurangi 33 – 22. In the earlier fixtures at Trafalgar Park, Marist and Nelson both reversed their 2015 opening results, Marist accounting for Waimea OB 29 – 7 and Nelson rolling Stoke 62 – 0.
