2017 Mitre 10 Cup Draw announced

The Tasman Makos have a very good draw with 3 Sunday daytime matches among our 5 home games. The season will open with a 2016 Premiership Final re-play when we host Canterbury in Nelson.

UC Championship

Marlborough Boys College earned an invaluable 20 – 17 win over Burnside HS in Christchurch, while Waimea Combined Schools travelled to Hanmer, losing to Timaru Boys 29 -17.

Senior Competition Reviews

Finals action in The Car Company Nelson Bays competition saw Wanderers just get over Marist to claim back to back Division 1 titles, Collingwood overcame Riwaka in the mud at home to claim the Division 2 title and the Marist senior women ran down Motueka High School Girls at the death to claim the Tasman Women’s trophy.

Semi-final action in The Car Company Nelson Bays Div competition saw Marist rebound to beat Nelson 15 – 14 after two previous defeats, while competition leaders Wanderers accounted for Waimea Old Boys 38 - 6.

UC Championship

The three Tasman region’s 1st XV’s all enjoyed wins on the weekend. Marlborough Boys convincingly defeated Asburton College 48 - 20, Waimea Combined prevailed against Lincoln High 19 – 12 and Nelson College got out of jail with a last minute 27 – 25 win over St Thomas’s to retain the Moascar Cup.

In the final round of the Motorworld Marlborough Div 1round robin competition, Central dominated East Coast 47 – 5, Harlequins overcame Renwick 39 – 24 while Waitohi enjoyed a 29 – 0 win over Moutere.

The pointy end of the Senior Club rugby season is now upon us with semi-final berths decided. The matches this weekend are:

UC Championship

Waimea Combined Schools continued their debut season with an upset win over St Andrew’s College on Saturday. The Marlborough Boys' College 1st XV's hopes of contesting the UC rugby championship play-offs appear gone after they slipped to their fourth loss, 20-25 away to Rangiora High School on Saturday. Meanwhile Nelson College lost their opening match in the annual Quad tournament to Christ’s College in Christchurch on Monday.
