Nelson city street party for All Blacks Test day

The central city will be closed on September 8 for a huge street party as Nelson plays host to its first ever All Blacks test match. From 1pm to 5.30pm, Nelson will become a place to treat the family to a taste of Kiwi and Argentinian culture, local artisan food, history, entertainment and a dedicated family area.

Additional funding provided to manage Test crowd influx

A $20,000 funding boost has been approved by Council for transport and facilities during the All Black test in September. The funds would be used by the Nelson Regional Development Agency (NRDA) to manage the much higher than usual traffic demands and additional temporary facilities (including toilets).

Waimea Combined Schools were out-muscled by Rangiora High School 47-20, while in Blenheim, Marlborough Boys College were beaten 38-15 by Christ's College.

Nelson Test Week Golf Day

As part of the week leading into the Test, the Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce will host a Charity Golf Tournament (Ambrose format) on Thursday 6 September at Nelson Golf Club. Proceeds will go toward Junior Rugby & Junior Golf.

It wasn’t pretty, but Nelson has celebrated its 150th anniversary in style, winning the Tasman Trophy after a brutal battle with Marist. In atrocious conditions at Neale Park, the game was always going to be won up front and Nelson’s pack, led by the uncompromising duo of Isaiah Miller and Ethan Blackadder, out-muscled Marist for a 16-6 victory.
