The All Blacks are dropping into the Top of the South tomorrow as part of their annual All Blacks to the nation campaign ahead of their first ever test match in Nelson next week. Split up into mini-teams, they will be taking part in community events in four different areas of Nelson and Tasman - Brightwater, Richmond, Riwaka and Stoke this Sunday.

Nelson College ended its 2018 campaign with an entertaining 38-31 win over Shirley Boys today to claim the UC Championship Plate. Following the victory, Nelson skipper Anton Segner capped his sensational season being named player of the tournament .

Nelson College saw off a stunning comeback from Marlborough Boys today to register a thrilling 36-35 victory and book their place in the UC Championship Plate final. Waimea Combined Schools season came to an end with a 36-12 loss to St. Andrews in a Bowl semi final in Christchurch.

Tasman region's three College 1st XVs have missed out on UC Championship Cup semi-final action this year. Instead, Nelson College will host Marlborough Boys College in a Plate semi-final at the Front Field this Saturday 12 noon, while Waimea Combined Schools will travel to play St Andrew's College in a Bowl semi-final.

The Nelson College 1st XV has bounced back from losing the Moascar Cup last week with an emphatic 38-0 win over Lincoln Combined. Marlborough Boys’ College earned themselves a shot at place in the second tier of the UC Championship play-offs with a 34-22 win over Roncalli Combined. Waimea Combined Schools lost 25-12 when they hosted Timaru Boy’s High School in their last home game of the season on Saturday.

The central city will be closed on September 8 for a huge street party as Nelson plays host to its first ever All Blacks test match. From 1pm to 5.30pm, Nelson will become a place to treat the family to a taste of Kiwi and Argentinian culture, local artisan food, history, entertainment and a dedicated family area.

A $20,000 funding boost has been approved by Council for transport and facilities during the All Black test in September. The funds would be used by the Nelson Regional Development Agency (NRDA) to manage the much higher than usual traffic demands and additional temporary facilities (including toilets).

The Moascar Cup is the oldest, most prestigious and storied trophy in NZ 1st XV rugby, and dates back to the end of World War One. The Cup is played for under a challenge system, not unlike the Ranfurly Shield.

Nelson College's 15 match, 2 season hold on the Moascar Cup finally came to an end, with Christchurch Boys High School over-powering a gallant College team 22-12. Waimea Combined Schools were out-muscled by Rangiora High School 47-20, while in Blenheim, Marlborough Boys College were beaten 38-15 by Christ's College.
