Marist A claimed the men’s title at the Tasman Sevens rugby tournament staged at the Renwick Domain on Saturday.
They proved too hot for Kahurangi in the final, winning 17-5, while Motueka High Senior beat their fellow Moteka High Girls combination to take out the women’s final 26-12.

Buller beat Moutere 23-17 to place third and fourth respectively in the women’s grade, while Waimea Old Boys downed Wanderers 22-19 to claim third in the men’s section.
In the men’s semis the slick Marist A combination thrashed Waimea Old Boys 38-0 while Kahurangi got up 27-7 over Wanderers to book their place in the decider.
The Bowl final was won by Riwaka who beat Buller 24-20, while Central won the Plate and finished fifth after downing hosts Renwick 26-12.
Next week the sevens action shifts to Motueka for the second tournament in the annual series.
