Tasman Rugby Union Director Positions Vacant
1. Appointed Independent Member (1); and
2. Nominated Sub Union Board Members (2).
The Tasman Rugby Union Incorporated (“Tasman Rugby”) invites applications for Director positions on its Board. The vacancies relate to two and three-year terms commencing on or about April 2019.
Tasman Rugby’s purpose is to lead, grow, support and promote New Zealand’s national game in the region. It represents Tasman on rugby organisations nationally, has ultimate responsibility for the performance of the Mako Mitre 10 Cup and Farah Palmer Cup teams and other male and female teams and, in partnership with the clubs within Tasman, contributes to the health of rugby at all levels. Tasman Rugby has current income levels in excess of $5million per annum.
These roles require a corporate governance focus, with responsibility for setting the strategic direction for rugby in Tasman and monitoring the performance of all aspects of the business, while taking into account the interests of all relevant stakeholders. Tasman Rugby aspires to have a diverse Board, reflective and representative of both New Zealand and its rugby community.
Applicants should be talented and experienced Directors or Senior Executives who can complement and strengthen the expertise of the TRU Board.
Appointed Independent Member (1)
The incumbent for this position, Scott Ford, is eligible to apply for reappointment and has indicated that he intends to apply.
Appointed Independent Board Members must be independent and must be able to confirm that they will act and think independently of any stakeholder or stakeholders in rugby in Tasman, and in the best interests of rugby across all of Tasman.
Nominated Sub Union Board Members (2)
One incumbent delegate, Tony Woodall (representing Nelson Bays) is retiring. Wayne Young (representing Marlborough) is eligible to apply for reappointment and has indicated that he intends to apply.
Tasman Rugby is seeking persons interested in a position as a Nominated Board Sub Union Delegate. They must be nominated by their Sub Union, and the successful candidates will be selected by the perspective Sub Union but must be ratified by an Appointments Committee.
