Nelson to face Marist in the NPD Tasman Trophy Final

Nelson will meet Marist in the Tasman Trophy final next weekend after both sides booked their berths with hard fought semi final wins. A first half blitz saw Nelson register a 37-19 win over Renwick at a muddy Neale Park, while Marist held off a strong challenge from Waimea Old Boys to sneak home 26-20.

Moutere crowned Senior Women champions

Moutere are Tasman women’s rugby champs after their come-from-behind win over Waimea Old Boys in the competition final at Lansdowne Park. The Magpies, unbeaten throughout the season and defending champions, were put under immense pressure by a gritty Waimea outfit, before prevailing 22-14 courtesy of two late tries.

MBC Old Boys take our Marlborough Div 2 title

Defending champions Marlborough Boys’ College Old Boys scored a hard-fought 22-14 win over Renwick, after leading 16-3 at halftime.


After 11 terrific, fiercely contested rounds of NPD Tasman Trophy matches, the semi-finals are upon us and to be played this Saturday at 3pm.  These matches are hosted by the top qualifying teams, Nelson and Marist.  Marist and Waimea Old Boys finished 2nd equal on the points table, but Marist take the home semi privilege as they beat Waimea OB in their last match (the Nelson Bays Div 1 semi-final).

UC Championship Round 10 Wrap

Nelson College dominated St Thomas's in the second half to win 25 - 11, after trailing at half time, to retain the Moascar Cup. Waimea Combined Schools went down 42 - 21 to Lincoln Combined while Marlborough Boys College kept their hopes alive with a pleasing 19 - 17 victory over Timaru Boys High School.

NPD Tasman Trophy Round 11 Wrap

Both NPD Tasman Trophy premiership semifinals will be staged in Nelson after the final set of round-robin matches were played across the top of the south. Nelson, who had a bye but were already assured of being top qualifier, will meet Renwick at Neale Park in the 1 v 4 play-off. Waimea Old Boys who will host Marist in the second, 2 v 3 semi at Tahunanui.

UC Championship Round 9 Wrap

Waimea Combined Schools 1st XV travelled south play Christ's College in Christchurch, going down by 47-17. Marlborough Boys’ College were also in Christchurch playing Christchurch Boys’ High School. The match was won by CBHS 24-17, the home side eventually scoring four tries to MBC’s three. Nelson College defeated Shirley Boys High School 27 - 3on Monday to retain the Moascar Cup.

NPD Tasman Trophy Round 10 Wrap

In a round where all games were played in Marlborough, Renwick marched into the NPD Tasman Trophy rugby play-offs, the Green Machine overcoming a gritty Wanderers combination 43-33. The only other Marlborough winner was East Coast, who shocked Stoke 36-26, effectively knocking the Nelson club champions out of the top tier play-offs. Waitohi were beaten 40-28 by Nelson, Nelson clinching top spot on the ladder, Central lost 41-36 to Marist and Moutere went down to Waimea Old Boys 45-29.
