Community rugby to kick off without restrictions

Level 1 now allows community rugby to return without restrictions. Clubs, schools and community rugby providers are encouraged to continue to implement contact tracing measures and hygiene protocols throughout Alert Level 1. Anyone feeling sick should stay away from all rugby activity.

I will not dwell on the last three months other than to say while we are very excited to have the community game back this weekend with the Marlborough Sub Union and UC Cup 1st XV competitions starting this weekend and the Nelson senior clubs, Division 2 and the Women’s competitions starting on the 27th.

The 2020 Tasman board is: Ramon Sutherland (president), Wayne Young (chairman), Tony Healey, Scott Ford, Gary Knowles, Johnny Joseph, Dayveen Stephens and Tony Peacock.

Tasman Rugby Referees in good shape for new season

Tasman’s rugby referees are in good heart as the sport prepares to return after a three-month hiatus. TRU referee education officer Dave Paterson says there will be good numbers of referees available on both sides of the hill.

There is nothing better on a Saturday morning than heading to the local 1st XV match in either Blenheim or Nelson, having a quick bite of lunch then followed by watching some senior rugby in the afternoon.

Club Rugby

Senior Club rugby resumed post-Covid with two matches in Blenheim in the Wadsco Motorworld Marlborough division 1 competition. This included a successful challenge by Waitohi for the John Goodman Challenge Trophy. Round 2 matches will be played at Picton and Renwick.
