CEO Chat with Lyndon Bray

Here we are, club rugby just around the corner and 2021 ready to kick off!

I am so excited to be offered the chance to be the new CEO of Tasman Rugby and three weeks into the role (while still here in Cape Town) I am feeling a real sense of anticipation.  It is both humbling and exciting to be given this opportunity and to be a part of what is a very proud rugby region.

Rugby is going through a fascinating period of its era in New Zealand - time will tell where we land with Private Equity - but what will not change is the need for us all to engage and connect at our community level.

At Tasman Rugby, we need to ensure that we are working with real energy into the community game, supporting the clubs and the schools to be as strong as we can be.  We need to work off the great values of the Mako Team - belong in humility, trailblaze to thrive and that we demonstrate unassailable grit - to achieve what we need to focus on, so that rugby remains at the heart of our community.

Players, coaches, referees, and administrators alike, need to feel they truly belong within our rugby family and we need to ensure we live that purpose - and that starts with me.

At this stage (all going well with travel and borders!) I will be arriving at Nelson at the end of May - ready to join the club rugby season, which will be in full swing.

I wish everyone a great start to the club season and see you all soon at our great club rugby grounds.
